Sound Converter

converterYou have an OGG audio file of your favorite song and want to play it in a popular music player. However, it only plays MP3. What will you do?

Try this (in Ubuntu Jaunty):

  1. Install SoundConverter: sudo apt-get install soundconverter gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
  2. Open the installed application: Applications>Sound & Video>Sound Converter
  3. Set MP3 as the default conversion: Edit>Preferences, at Format, choose MP3 (.mp3), then click Close
  4. Now you can add file(s) by clicking Add File or Add Folder (folder that contains audio files), then click Convert.

One more thing: it can also extract the audio from videos! Have fun, folks!
