Open a .cdr file in Linux

inkscapeInkscape is almost similar to CorelDraw. In fact, you can also open a CorelDraw’s file (.cdr) using this open source software. Try this step on your Ubuntu desktop:

sudo apt-get install inkscape python-uniconvertor

Uniconvertor has some import filters:

  1. CorelDRAW ver.7-X3,X4 (CDR/CDT/CCX/CDRX/CMX)
  2. Adobe Illustrator up to 9 ver. (AI postscript based)
  3. Postscript (PS)
  4. Encapsulated Postscript (EPS)
  5. Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM)
  6. Windows Metafile (WMF)
  7. XFIG
  8. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)
  9. Skencil/Sketch/sK1 (SK and SK1)
  10. Acorn Draw (AFF)

It also has export filters:

  1. AI (Postscript based Adobe Illustrator 5.0 format)
  2. SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
  3. SK (Sketch/Skencil format)
  4. SK1 (sK1 format)
  5. CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile)
  6. WMF (Windows Metafile)
  7. PDF (Portable Document Format)
  8. PS (PostScript)
