Aspire One 722 on Natty

If you have a brand new Aspire One 722, don’t hesitate to put Ubuntu 11.04 in it. However, you need to do one of the options below to avoid freezing issue:

A. Set “Network boot” as the first boot order. Do this in BIOS setting (press F2 when booting).

or

B. Disable the Ethernet right away after installation:

  1. Write this command in Terminal: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
  2. Add this line and save: blacklist atl1c
  3. Do this in Terminal: sudo update-initramfs -u
  4. Reboot the computer.

I suggest not to install the ATI graphic proprietary driver or you cannot suspend/hibernate the netbook. Hopefully, these can be fixed later by upgrading the kernel.
